About Bruce

My commitment to our community spans nearly 15 years- as a member of the Roseville Planning Commission, and before that serving on the Roseville Public Utilities Commission, as the Councilmember servicing District 3, your Vice-Mayor and for the past two years your Mayor, – it has been both a privilege and gratifying to serve the community of Roseville.

Beginning in 2019, I have been Roseville’s representative to the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board of Directors and Transportation Committee, as the Vice-Chair of the Capitol Corridors Joint Powers Authority overseeing commuter rail between here and the Bay area, as Vice-Chair of the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency and Chair of the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority,  a member of the Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCo), the Placer County Flood Control and Water Conservation Board, the South Placer Wastewater Authority, and the City/School District Committee.

It has been my honor and privilege to work with many of the home-grown non-profits which are the soul of our community –  a Board member of the Placer Breast Cancer Foundation, the Placer Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and an enthusiastic supporter of and volunteer for the Tommy Apostolos Fund, Friends of the Roseville Public Libraries, Roseville Police Activities League, and Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance – Brave the Shave.

Public service is an ethic that runs in my family and Shelley’s. My mom was the State President of the Business and Professional Women of Maryland and served on the County Personnel Board. My father, a Public Works Supervisor, coached my sister’s softball team for many years. My father-in-law, a retired Oregon State Trooper, is State Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Oregon. And my mother-in-law regularly volunteers at her church’s community pantry.

I am running re-election to the City Council not just to continue my civic involvement and public service, but also to put my experience to work for Roseville residents and the business community, to ensure that the quality-of-life Roseville residents and the business community have come to expect is not just maintained but continues to improve.

My professional experience representing the interest of farmers in the Sacramento Valley on water resource issues has given me the experience and knowledge of how to advocate for reduced regulation.

It will take experienced leadership committed to our community to guide us forward in a changing world and keep the quality of life we enjoy and enable small businesses to thrive.  A commitment I have demonstrated as your District 3 representative.

It is this experience that I will put to work for Roseville residents.  Experience working with and listening to others to craft innovative, cost effective, and thoughtful solutions.
